Thursday night I was able to be at the Community Nutcracker performance of The Nutcracker Ballet. This is what they have on their website:
"Every year, Community Nutcracker delights audiences of all ages with its holiday classic. More than 200 children from Northeast Florida audition and perform in the production. More than 4,000 students from area schools attend two very special performances just for them. For many students, the field trip is an educational experience, as many of them have never attended a full-length ballet. Many local teachers also incorporate the performance into their curriculum. In addition, Community Nutcracker issues 2,000 free tickets to various Jacksonville agencies and organizations to a Community Service Night performance. Residents and clients from area nursing homes and nonprofit agencies are able to attend the ballet."
I have to admit, I've never been to a ballet performance. Well, except when my daughter Amy was in dance class and we went to her shows. But this was quite a bit different. I have never photographed a performance like that before either. It was an experience to say the least. And I had such a great time, I am going to have to do it more often.
