When I go to shoot a sporting event, mostly I concentrate on just photographing the game. That's what I'm most interested in. I want to capture all of those moments of action on the field....the hits, the tackles, the baskets, the emotion of the players, the outstanding plays and the ones that went haywire. For me, that's what it's always been about.
But it's not all that other folks want to see. There's a lot more things going on that are part of the game day experience. Like the mascot. And the bands. And the singing of the National Anthem. And the fans. And, yes, the cheerleaders.
When I posted my photos of the Jaguars-Miami game, I got a lot of folks asking why there were no pix of the other stuff. Well, it was guys mostly. Asking why there were no images of the cheerleaders. There are a lot of guys on the sidelines who make those photos every game. I just never have. I get tired of hearing those comments about being there just so I can be close to the cheerleaders and take those photos. And, to be honest, I'm just not comfortable taking a lot of pix of these cuties. They work hard at what they do, and they do it well. It's just not what I'm into.
However, I have heard the cries for more of this kind of stuff. I have come around. So this week, I made an effort to get more of the pix that add to the "flavor" of the game. Like some of Jaxson deVille and his new sidekick, JJ....
And the D-Line....
And the young lady singing the National Anthem (who did a great job, by the way)
And, last but not least, the lovely ladies of The Roar.
Hope you enjoyed those.....I'll try to do better at capturing this aspect of the games I go to from now on. It will be tough, but I think I'm up for the challenge!
